How to Install the Truma Trumatic S 5002 Heater in Your Caravan
The Truma Trumatic S 5002 is a gas heater for caravans that can provide comfortable warmth and a cozy flame effect. It is designed for standard right-hand installation, but can be adapted for left-hand installation with some modifications. What You Need
Before you start, make sure you have the following items:
The heater Truma Trumatic S 5002 with control panel and room thermostat
The front case with flame effect (optional)
The exhaust gas cowl
The exhaust duct
The gas connection kit
The electrical connection kit
The installation template for the heater
The installation template for the front case (optional)
A drill, a saw, a screwdriver, a wrench and other tools
Choosing the Location
The heater should be installed in a well-ventilated area that is protected from water and dust. The heater should not be installed near flammable materials or heat-sensitive devices. The heater should also be accessible for maintenance and operation.
The exhaust gas cowl should be installed on the outside wall of the caravan, preferably on the right side of the heater. The exhaust gas cowl should not be obstructed by any objects or openings. The exhaust gas cowl should also be at least 30 cm away from any windows, doors, vents or other openings.
Installing the Heater
Follow these steps to install the heater:
Cut out the opening for the heater on the wall of the caravan according to the installation template. Make sure to leave enough space for the exhaust duct and the gas connection.
Insert the heater into the opening and secure it with screws.
Cut out the opening for the exhaust gas cowl on the outside wall of the caravan according to the installation template. Make sure to align it with the exhaust outlet of the heater.
Insert the exhaust duct into the exhaust outlet of the heater and connect it to the exhaust gas cowl. Secure it with clamps.
Connect the gas supply pipe to the gas inlet of the heater. Use a wrench to tighten it.
Connect the electrical wires to the control panel and the room thermostat according to the wiring diagram. Use cable clips to fix them.
Attach the control panel and the room thermostat to the wall of the caravan with screws.
Installing the Front Case with Flame Effect
If you want to add a decorative touch to your heater, you can install a front case with flame effect. Follow these steps to install it:
Cut out the opening for the front case on the wall of the caravan according to the installation template. Make sure to leave enough space for the electrical connection.
Insert the front case into the opening and secure it with screws.
Connect the electrical wires to the front case according to
the wiring diagram. Use cable clips to fix them.
Testing and Operating
Before you use your heater for
the first time, you should test it for leaks and proper functioning. Follow these steps
to test your heater:
Open
the gas supply valve and check all gas connections for leaks with a leak detector or
soapy water.
Turn on
the main switch on
the control panel and set
the room thermostat to
the desired temperature.
Press
the ignition button on
the control panel until
the pilot flame appears in
the sight glass.
Release
the ignition button and check if
the main burner ignites within 10 seconds.
If
the main burner does not ignite or goes out, repeat steps 3 and 4 until it stays lit.
